The Smiling LiMe Margarita Bar is almost done! We couldn't wait any longer; we just had to show you! It's looking so bright and colorful, and most importantly - It's CLEAN and usable again! Woot woot!

Here's a little recap of what it looked like before we started.
Mister had turned this into his fish-camp cleaning station, an outdoor kitchen to cook up some grub, and a little outdoor bar to eat and have a couple cocktails. The renters didn't use it for fun and entertainment though; it became a yucky catch-all for them.
Definitely not the life of the party anymore.

When Mister gave me the place to turn into Studio 33, he knew I would be making lots of changes, so he asked that I be extremely frugal when it came to any revamping. Challenge accepted! He's not the only one who can stretch a dollar bill!
So with bff by my side - we put on our work clothes, turned on the radio, and had some fun with this project! First we took everything out; then we sorted through it all, we hauled a lot of it to the local dump, and set aside what we thought we could salvage, recycle, or upcycle. We took all Misters fish, deer antlers, and neon lights out. And we took all the paint out of his old workshop (that's about to become a she-shed,) sorted through to find any usable paints. We found a whole can of this lemony yellow - it may be bright, but it's perfect for a Margarita Bar don't you think?
We found 3 different cans of partially used whites so we mixed them all together and went to town on the outer lattice and beams. We had enough yellow to do the front of the bar. And those old stools that looked like they belonged in a horror movie - We love the way they look in front of the bar!
The chandelier was in the loft of Mister's old workshop. It must have been left behind by a past renter. The cabinets, counters, stove, and burner were all salvages that Mister brought home during our collecting days (hmm hmm, I mean hoarding days) He also salvaged a lot of wood, and beams from his different jobs, because if there is one thing about Mister; he is thrifty! Thank you Mister!!
Until we can get Mister to make us those cabinet doors, we found these drapes that went perfectly with our mismatch of colors. The drapes were extra wide and extra long; so we cut them up and sewed curtains. They might not be doors, but they hide all our blogging and bar supplies. And yes, we even painted the grout!

The stove had begun to rust pretty badly, but since it still worked, we decided to give it a paint job too. After sanding it down, we primed it with some of that dark blue we already had from the shed, then we bought a can of textured black spray paint and sprayed that on. We were going to paint the entire stove black, but we liked the way it looked with the blue showing through, so we left it.
This was the stove in progress. It was rough before, that's for sure!
And there was a nest inside the oven. Ewe. You should have seen Lisa and I trying to get it out; it was quite comical!
We found some barn red paint, some purplish colored paint, and some light brown paint. There wasn't enough of any of them to paint the stones with, so we mixed them all hoping to get some sort of usable color. This is what we got. This is the first coat, but hey it's a far cry better than before!
We couldn't leave all Misters fish out, so this little guy gets a place in the new and improved space.
We still have to run the water lines to the sink, but we are definitely pleased with our squeaky budget make-over!!
A little paint (okay, a lot of paint) some repurposing, and sweat equity - and voila! We have turned Misters fish-camp kitchen & Bar into a stylish little Margarita Bar!!
